Murder and Adultery

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

At first you sow and then you reap
If you sow wrong you’ll surely weep
And if upon your spouse you cheat
You’ve picked your fruit so now you’ll eat

When you go home to make your bed
To knead your dough or bake your bread
Whatever you have labored at
You clean the litter for your cat

But if you try to wash that beast
You’ll never make it to the feast
The king has killed the fattened calf
But you just looked at him and laughed
