THE PLIGHT OF CHRISTMAS.

Happy faces and everyone smiling is what you'll see during Christmas,
It's always that time that symbolizes happiness, love and immense joy,
People give thanks for a splendid year and celebrate to welcome a new one,
It has always been the tradition for many Christian families all over the world,
and in my family we follow suite and feast to commemorate such a great day,
but deep down Christmas often felt off for me and the day just made me sad,
On the eve of the great day I'd often be filled up by a great deal of solitude,
I never knew why but deep down I knew that Christmas wasn't for me at all,
perhaps I was just scared to face what was coming in the forthcoming year,
or maybe I was just scared to lose anything that I really held dear,
but I realized I felt so sad cause all my life I have been living in fear,
Christmas symbolized family, mine was always close but never felt near.

About this poem

Sad festivities, quite the irony.
