TIRED OF BEING THE SAVIOUR.

Kennedy Mwangi 1998 (Nairobi)

Day and night they keep my phone awake
I can't ever sleep cause they just keep me awake,
Endless calls and messages
sometimes I just wonder if they are savages,
At their beck and call I try to be
cause being a friend that's what it seems to be,
All their worries they dump on me
and I carry it for them like I have a bin on me,
What they don’t understand
is that their selfish ways I can't stand,
Yes it's good to be a friend
but true friends don’t have to pretend,
Calls are always coming through
but mine never seem to get through,
Hey can you help me with something?
all they care about is getting something,
When I have nothing
no one gives me something,
When they have something
to them I just mean nothing,
I'm tired of being a saviour
yet no one shows up when I need saving.

About this poem

Some friendships are one-sided, they use you and when you need them they aren't there for you.
