The Long Goodbye

I remember my address when I was in the 4th grade
I have to look up our present address
The Navy measured my IQ at 144
I had a phenomenal vocabulary
Now I struggle to find the right word to fill in a sentence
Scrabble is still my favorite game
I call myself "The King of the Four Letter Word"
I do Sudoku every day (Slow but sure)
I am terrible at crossword puzzles
I have good days and bad days
On good days I can write Limericks as fast as my fingers can go
On bad days I watch porn
I'll be sitting somewhere and just 'slip out of gear'
I've been married nine times
I have trouble remembering all of their names

About this poem

This really is about me. I'm 84 y/o and getting more forgetful every day. I write poetry here partly to force my mind to exercise.
