The Danger of Time

With dark and glorious auburn hair
And such overwhelming beauty to share
The girl sits and waits.

Her eyes the colour of the star-filled night
Face so pure and luminously bright
The girl sits and waits.

A wrinkle grabs her delicate face
She's ancient now, lost her grace
Yet the girl sits. And waits.

The auburn in her hair
Now a dull silver glare
The eyes they loved before
Fail the girl, and make her fall
Drooping of her skin
The regret kicks in
As losing the perfection seen before
Means a miserable life to endure.

But years after her beauty expired
When she was miserable, old and retired
She still sat eagerly on the same chair
Even though now she's the hag to beware

However her face is still lined in hope
So even in her last words she spoke
That true love was still hers to find
Not just a cruel deception of the mind.

About this poem

It's about how women, when they turn a certain age, are wrongfully 'undesirable' to some.

Interesting poem about a woman staying young as long as possible !
But sooner than later. age before beauty !
Her hair is her crowning glory but her character ages with time and is the winner !
