Transparent

I wake up.
Run my fingers through my hair.
Without a care in the world.
I pay my bills make my plans for the day.
I look into the mirror with no stress of oppression.
I have a future to look forward too.
I grab my keys hop in my car that starts every time.
I smell the air in my neighborhood through my sunroof.
Smells like joy and peace.
I ride past the authorities and they bid me hello and offer a toothy smile.
I walk inside the store people aren’t intimidated by me.
I have more than enough to pay for my groceries.
I’ve made it back home alive and thriving.
I wore my hoodie to the store and no one gave my accusing looks.
The authorizes didn’t stop me and tell me I was suspicious.
My neighbors didn’t question me as if I didn’t belong.
Look at me I’m transparent.
Sure I made wise decisions in life but bad things could happen to anyone right?
What’s the probability of my safety based on my skin color?
After all I’m transparent.
I am brown. I am beige. I am red. I am yellow. I am tan. I am sienna. I have curly hair. I have straight hair. I have wavy hair. I have blue eyes I have brown eyes. I have green eyes. I have blonde hair. I have black hair. I have red hair. I have brown hair. I am tall. I am short. I am thin. I am heavyset. I am young and I am old.  I have a heart and a conscience. I have a soul and a purpose. I have a zeal for life and I have loved ones who adore me. Please see me for who I am. I am transparent.
