Just an Old Pocket Knife

Allen Watkins 1934 (Kansas)

Just an Old Pocket Knife

My Old Timer has lost its form
Its blades are loose and badly worn
For many years it’s been with me
A faithful tool I must agree

Placed the old one away from view
And bought another one brand-new
So bright and shiny in my hand
My feelings should have been so grand

Then I remember I’m old and worn
Like my Old Timer that’s lost its form
I put the new one away you see
My old Old Timer I carry with me

About this poem

It is worn and old and the blades are loose and rattle. I bought a new one to replace it and found out the new one was made in China. I put it away and I still carry my old knife.
