Home Sweet Home

Diane E. Mody 1969 (Staten Island, NY)

May 22

A house is built with walls of stone; a 'home' should never be...
It's built with love, faith & hope; the 'walls' are you & me.
United by marriage, divided in love, just sharing the same space...
'walls' were drawn that you won't see and I just can't erase.
No happy thoughts, no hope or faith, no nights of pure elation...
since a storm of selfishness blew through and tore up our foundation.
If a 'house’ falls down, a 'home' should stand strong, with materials made from feeling...
One definite way to destroy it is with the construction of a ceiling.
I believe in family, I believe in love, I believe in fun & laughter...
I, also, believe that one day I'll find my "Happily ever after."
