Faraway

When I look into your eyes, I can see the never-ending ocean, so deep, so far that not even your tears could be found
I know by the way you talk and the sorrow in your walk.
I knock on the windows of your soul, but you won't let me in.
I can see through the facade that you are afraid.
I can tell by the waves in your mind that there are many trials and tribulations.
If only I could be the wave in your mind, to calm the turbulence.
When I look out to the sea of your eyes, I see no end through your half-hearted smile, you try to hide the pain in your eyes but I can see the hurt inside.
If only you would let me swim to you, this can all be gone.

About this poem

I was dating a man in 2007 and as much as I wanted to get close to him he would be distant/ faraway and not let me in, no matter how hard I tried. So when I wrote this poem it was coming from compassion deep in my heart based on his silence.
