Death mask A requiem for another self

Death mask
A requiem for another self

For we who wear the mask
and what depths reside within
when the two becomes the one
of what is dead or real

We who make the masks
the images drawn
to transcend the mortality of  man

The kinds of masks we wear
express that which can’t be said
but tries to understand
unravels the chains
and hidden locks from
our unconscious lots
it uproots that which spoils and rots
to restore that which can remain
so true

Like ancient masks of Agamemnon
thinly traced in gold
And of Lincoln’s mask
stoic and so bold alive
to this day still remains

Spirit masks of elder tribes
of tricksters fools and kings
what lie behind these masks
archetypes and mystery
that which peels away
behind the face to
reveal the personality
of our authenticity

Face to face with ourselves
to what is the true measure of  man
if a person becomes the mask
or the mask becomes the person
on the stage of life
to act with what may be
to be true to yourself
is worth more indeed
