Earth Shepherds

Earth shepherds amidst
the amber skies of lifting fog
that shed no tears in lighted day
regains the dignity born
within the dying flames

Bridges crossed to find us here
wandering footsteps on open roads
finding paths lightly tred
we make our way
travelers of another day

Unwinding circles within the stones
we find ourselves once again
captive fugitives of traveler’s past
in the stillness we gather by the stream

Through scattering kernal’s of all life’s
troubles and its joys
old as the stones
in the strength of sea and air
countless lines of wrinkled  age

In the dune of timeless  sand
wind born seeds that spring of life
stones and sky beneath the withered grass

Amber light in muted tones
past the footsteps left to dry
little hands held to rising suns
pours like sand through fingers grips
to the blowing wind and tide

Floating off the waves of time
drifting off then drifting near
starlit driftwood of our dreams
shine as crystal's in our tears
on eternal tides

To stop sit and listen
to questions that no one hears
answers might come at last
not too late in its going coming
to its coming that ever comes
to know the final step
when all is put to rest
