Beyond Reason

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Is there ever a reason to run so fast?
That you can’t see what you’re running past
Like a fish out of water, washed up on the shore
I can throw it back in but it won’t swim anymore.

If you’re running that fast and there’s danger ahead
You’ll probably run into the things that you dread!

If you have all you need but you’re dead on the floor
Everything that you needed you won’t need anymore!
If you’re running from God; you should turn and go back
But you hide in the woods and live in a shack.

Beyond all reason you run away!
Don’t be a fool, come back today.
