8th Grade ELA

8th grade ELA was tons of fun (hyperbole)
Mr Benders poems hit strong like a torpedo
His poems were all about something, but now it’s done
Every poem about his speedo

Every single day I learned ELA in 2nd period
(anaphora) Every single day we would learn something new
Every single day we’d learn vocab words like bonanza or myriad
I had work from other classes, work that taunted me (personification), work I had to get through

I’m doing work, almost finished (oxymoron)
Learning figurative language on paper
Have to keep going, but my energy has been diminished
My sweat evaporating, filling my room with vapor

We would read and write
But through thick and thin (idiom)
It was a constant mental fight
I would still win

This class required creativity
Each assignment was a wall needed to be climbed (metaphor)
You had to stay strong, keep up the productivity
Making sure that every single line in the poem rhymed

Mr. Bender was like a king (simile)
You had to bow down
Mr. Bender was a sacred, royal thing
Bow down to the crown (metonymy)
