Broken Promises



Why do you do that?
You keep building me up with your kind words just to throw me back to the ground.

I believed you again.
Like I always do.
"I promise this will be the last time."
"I promise I didn't talk to her."
"I promise this was the last time."
"I promise I'll change."
"I promise I love you."
Each one made with your fingers crossed behind your back.
Now with every promise a faint smile appears on my face then disappears like my trust in you.

    Ouch! How many times can one woman be lied to? Until she can't be. A lesson I learned when I was young and dumb. It's sad that people have to learn the valuable lessons the hard way most times. It seems you've learned that lesson.
