I'm Sorry

Kenya Stephens 1995 (Van Wert)

Look, I don't mean to f*ck up.
I don't plan to make you angry.
I never dreamed of being this way.
I'm sorry.
Please lower your voice, I know what I did wrong.
No please, don't be so mean.
Stop, you're scaring me.
I'm sorry.
Sorry that I say sorry a million times.
Even writing this my hands are shaking.
I can see your face right now.
Your eyes darker than your soul.
Nose scrunched.
Oh no, I'm sorry.
The freight is taking over me again.
Help me.
I don't know what to do.
I talk too much, too less.
Laugh too loud, laugh not enough.
I know I'm sorry.
What do you want from me?!
I'm so confused.
Broken.
Tell me what you want, and I'll do it.
Anything to make you happy again.
I promise I'll be better.
Yes, I'll cut them off.
You are right.
No, I'm... sorry.

About this poem

This was written in 2017 back when writing was my only safe place. It was a way I could get MY side of things out without being gaslight that it was all in my head.
