Night is falling

Night is falling
And fading fast
So ends the day
Tis night at last!

Stars are rising
To give us light
So, too, the moon
Now in my sight

Gone is the laughter
Of children’s play
Who quietly slumber
Before a brand-new day

Out comes the owl
With its familiar sound
Joining the crickets
Who chirp aloud

Fireflies dance
On the river’s bank
While a busy stream
No rest it takes.

The night is abuzz
With its usual flurry
While children sleep
Without care or worry

The busy night
Now fades away
Amid the light
Of a brand-new day!

About this poem

One of my favorite poets is Robert Frost. So many of his poems are set in nature or have a theme related to nature. His words have such a beautiful and captivating cadence. Although I may never be as eloquent as Robert Frost, I love nature and all its beauty!
