Do Whatever It Takes
Whatever it takes
In order to find a Peace of mind,
With each other and all of mankind;
Finding our ways to come together as one;
Unify and harmonize without the gun
Whatever it takes
Because if we don't, this world will still decline
Whatever it takes
Because loneliness burdens the mind
Whatever it takes
Visions of community, visions of Hope
Whatever it takes
No more murder, no more fear
No more hatred, but acceptance that you're here
Do Whatever it takes
We all must learn to accept others for who they are,
We must all inflict no scar
Whatever it takes
Accepting who's different, deflecting who's ignorant
Whatever it takes
Respecting beliefs, respecting genders
Respecting unique, respecting elders
Do whatever it takes
Help those who fall, we'll stand where you fall
Do Whatever it takes
Choosing compassion, choosing to make change
Choosing to unite and heal from pain
Whatever it takes
Let no evil take control of our world
Whatever it takes
Gotta be strong, gotta get along
Whatever it takes
About this poem
Wanting to give a message of encouragement in the year 2022, we've all been through so much in the past few years. And the times seem to only be getting darker and darker. But we simply can't let the evil and darkness overrun our world. There is definitely a light at the end of this chapter in our lives, we just have to be in the right state of mind, and perceive the world with open eyes while moving differently. This poem was written on May 13th as a moment of inspiration hit me with the releasing of Kendrick Lamar's albums Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers. The structure and style I wrote this poem by was mentored and inspired by the song To Dream In Color by Cities Aviv which is a rap song that involves a motivational portion of poetry. A song I definitely encourage anyone to really check out. This was also a poem I would originally write for my Honors English 208 class at Mesa College in San Diego. I got so much great feedback I thought I would share it here as well. Hope it will encourage anyone who reads it. more »
