"Mental Illness"

Mental illness, a hardship to hold.
Its effects are profoundly bold.
A pain, a detriment.
A change I wish to implement.
To seek help they had told,
without the help, I had felt as though I’d fold.
I felt the detriment grow inside me like mold.
As a survivor I testament.
Mental illness, a hardship to hold.
The mental illness, I had felt scold…
me into a state where I felt trolled.
Sometimes I felt it had been an embarrassment.
Many said that mental illness was selfish and arrogant;
however, with help, a change I felt I could mould.
Mental illness, a hardship to hold.

About this poem

Mental Illness is difficult. I hope this poem helps readers realize that they aren't alone and that Mental Illness is, sadly, an often occurrence and shouldn't be invalidated.
