The True Hero

Forget the red cape
Or the suit made of iron.
Forget the Norse gods
Or the heroes of Byron.
Forget all of Krypton
Or the legends of Greece
Forget great Cú Chulainn
Or Lirs mystical geese.
Forget Robin Hood
Or the folk of the Shire
Forget old Achilles
Or Nero with his lyre.
Forget all the wizards
Or the Sword in the Stone
Forget Spartacus
Or the Legions of Rome.
For I know a true hero
And I call her my wife.
For a hero’s a mother
Who’s birthing new life.
