House on 13th Avenue

Oh dear house what we’ve been through
With the inside walls deep green and the outside light blue,
The sparks in the building set fire to my exasperation
Too many times we’ve been through renovation.
All we wanted was a new, suitable buyer,
But when I was away you set on fire
We thought it would be fine to give it another go
But once again you lie in rubble waiting for the next snow.

About this poem

I was stuck on what to write about, but recently I have been shocked and felt bad for the owners of a house in my neighborhood that they have renovated three times and it ended up catching on fire twice. I'm sure it's not exactly just bad luck, but it still has to be a huge financial loss and has brought distress.
