Haunted

Candice Lynn Sapp 1982 (Morgantown West Virginia)

I am haunted by the memory of a girl.
Who I never really knew.
Her innocence lost and childhood
Taken away too soon.

I am haunted by the memory of a girl.
Who was never allowed to be.
She speaks to me in dreams of
Who she should have been.

I am haunted by the memory of a girl.
Who has nightmares that keep her awake.
She is searching for a way.
To finally set her soul free from pain.

I hope that someday when this girl is gone
Someone, somewhere, picks this girls soul
Up off these pages and thinks,
" I would have loved her ".

I want to say thank you to the rare few individuals in my life who have listened without judgement, spoken with kind words and loved me for who I am, Who helped me and understood me and loved me without conditions...

About this poem

This is a personal poem. It was hard to write while my tears fell down my cheeks. This happened to me at 3 years old. I was raped and left for dead. All I could see was red everywhere. I almost bleed to death. I needed to share what I went through.
