Typical Florida Morning

NCastillo

The morning break of dawn blanketed the grass
I sip my iced tea while staring at the sky
I ponder the time for how long it will last
Then my arm starts to itch, a fly passes by.
The heat gets to me, my sweat dripping down fast
Morning turns to noon, so hot I’ll melt and die
The smothering sun broke my euphoria
Then I remember I live in Florida.
