Square Wheel Apple Carts

Square Wheel Apple Carts

Sure it’s a democracy, respecting leaders who act on whims
Makes one just as crazy, us, responsible for starting new world wars
Strained definitions, flawed decisions, ending a meandering year

Parked on the leading edge of nowhere, hurricanes now all year long
Upsetting the apple carts, the apples are rotten, the wheels square
Nothing, no one, is going anywhere, birds of prey, floating high overhead

Imagination, the wind blowing hard as nails, every other day
Congratulations, for having gotten this far, life a game, a forlorn dream
Waiting in timeless times, why are the walls of darkness so tall

Covid a warning, about ignoring, the four billion year old environment
Plastic dust is inside all of us, not just in animal pictures as seen on TV
Spend a year picking up wayward plastic chips, and bits, clean garbage

In a new life, four disciples, now growing fish, no longer casting nets
Spend a year planting trees, another growing fish, to live free in the oceans
We could do the same, but addicted to money, we are powerless to change

Don’t have the time, we all say, we all plead, respect differences of opinions
Nature says no bother, time has run out, see the changing of the old guard
Brings new life to this world, brave new world, always teeming with new life
