We Give Life All Its Meaning

Life without meaning.
Is ever so demeaning.
It is a nightmare.
Without one’s comprehension.
A dream without vision.

Life full of meaning.
Is a life of fulfillment.
A life of purpose.
Made with obstacle courses.
Propelling us to action.

The actions we take.
Are what makes the differences.
To rise — or falter.
We give life all its meaning.
As puppets — or puppeteers.

Fear stifles meaning.
It would rather destroy it.
Avoiding all light.
It dwells in deepest darkness.
In deep chthonic spaces.

Fear has no meaning.
Is puffed up with pretensions.
Without our consent.
It soon becomes deflated.
Needing us for oxygen.

Fear depends on us.
In making it go viral.
Or else it will die.
It has no life of its own.
And feeds only on hatred.

Beings of meaning.
Granted with gifts of free will.
We make our choices.
To fall prey — or overcome.
Yes, life gives us obstacles.
To learn  what we are made of.

We are our masters.
Masters of our destinies.
Life gives us choices.
To take away life’s essence.
Or give life its full meaning.

About this poem

The primary source of all meaning in this physical world that we dwell comes from us. Divinely created with the gift of free will, we create and live out our earthly destinies. Our destinies come packaged to us like little mustard seeds that are buried within our innermost selves and which , by our own directions, will seek out and find either fertile soil or desert wasteland. When rooted in fertile soil we, like mustard seeds, can become flourishing acorn trees, overcoming all obstacles that may come our way. Scattered into desert wasteland or swampy marshland, we become like driftwood, without any will power of our own, fearful of every foul wind that may toss us without discretion; unmindful, nevertheless, that with our own tenacity, we can guide ourselves yet, to more fertile higher grounding.

This is so right! We are constantly choosing, a million choices big and small. I ask myself, am I aware of what I am choosing?
