First Sound

as I lay listening the monitors beep
anxiety awaiting every second moves in slow motion
my heart pounding a lump in my throat
it was no question of you or me
when they gave me the option
I new what to do
within a matter of minutes I was spread out like a star
bright lights all around
waiting to hear your process sound
they say music to your ears
yet your sound was locked into my soul
One look at you felt like gold.
