Wet Lungs in Hawaii

Landed in Hawaii, Hotel with a Lagoon.

Grab the water, sunscreen, we’re about to head out soon.

Bring some snorkels for the water, which we all have to share.

Was in the room before us, probably dirty, I don’t care.

We rest our feet inside the sand with tanning on our minds.

The sun glaring in our eyes, our hands acting as blinds.

I waste no time, get in the water, my hair no longer dry.

The sand washing off my body as my family members fry.

Put on goggles, thing in mouth, and head under the water.

See that far out are more reefs, but I don’t even bother.

Uncle’s much braver more than me, swims all the way out.

Says he’ll swim me there and show me and all things he shouts.

Time to see some turtles, thought it would be fun.

Floating in the deep, back burning from the sun.

Water drops are on my face, I thought it was a tear.

When I tasted the salt within, my body shook in fear.

The special snorkel grabs my face, restricts my breathing, makes me race

Back to land, with the sand, with free air and the tanned.

On his back, my uncles hacks when I grab his neck and I start to crack.

Kick my legs, god hears my begs to let me live, get back to bed.

I was fine.
