Today Or Tomorrow

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Yesterdays gone to have lived and moved on.
Will not make a difference today or tomorrow,
To have anyone believe...
That each day that comes to bless them,
With life to get to live it to explore.
And adventure more beyond closed doors.
Is for someone a future to live and witness,
Beyond intentional acts...
Of wishful ignorance,
Is a natural process of life lived as is.
And not...
An opportunity to provoke time to stand still.
Until their ancestors approve,
Of all the changes made.

This...
May be the intent,
By those mentally limited.
And socially illiterate.

Or...
Possibly wishing to celebrate myths,
They have heard told to tell.
And...
As part of their heritage,
Taught to re-create the imitating of a fiction.
Rated as a close depiction,
Of times...
Only in books to describe them lived.

Leaving today and all tomorrows to come,
Witnessing everyone attempting to preserve...
The authenticity,
Of what is assumed to be their ethnicity!

In a place where plagiarism is encouraged.
And considered well done.
If close enough to the original.
To go undetected.
Yet praised for its mediocrity to honor it!

'That crap.
And all the other crap,
Identifiable as crap.
is mediocre!'

I know.
Years ago...
That wouldn't be accepted as even that.
But today?
People pay thousands of dollars.
Just to believe that crap,
Gives them a reason to be controversial.
And...
It works.
That's the sad thing about it.
Today?
Meaningless mediocrity sells!
With a giving to it prominence and stature!

'Check out what's hanging on the wall.'

It reminds me of a car bumper from the 60's.
Painted red, white and blue.

'That's exactly what it is.
Look at the price!
You could buy two homes,
In a gated community.
For what is being asked for that.'

Hmmm...
Really?
And I got that at a junk yard two days ago!
Thanks for the encouragement.
