Complacency's Son

All that glitters ain't gold
All the facts that ain't told
All the lies that are sold
All the news, a reflection of
Corrupt control, narcissistic mould
The negatives, spun into gold
Depressed and despondent
We're easily sold
Consumed with grief
We release our hold
Complacency's noose
Brings her undone
Without Nature
There'll be nowhere to run
When the reaper comes
- already -
The barrenness they've sown
Before our eyes, under our nose
We are all
Complacency's sons
Just standing by and watching
In the pursuit of technogical fun
Our world's minerals
Mined and processed
Plundered and repackaged
Then sold to us
To finance the ones who unconsciously
Destroy our Mum
Whilst we try to find
Something to fill in time
To distract our minds
From the stress of
Climate crisis and tax.

About this poem

My pondering of this system of mining and extraction of oils and minerals that likely act as coolants to the earth.
