Campfire songs

Summer nights huddled round the fire pit
Sharing secrets, stories and songs
Succulent strawberries, marshmallows and sugary delights
As we gather alongside deep into the night

The tents are pitched, tough and sturdy
Sleeping bags down, the floor still feels lumpy
We laugh at discomfort and hide from all bugs
Asleep under stars, Mother Nature hugs.

The night is cold so we scoot a little closer
Feeling the deep fall into our subconsciouses.
Campfire smoke eludes all our dreams
We awake, wash our face in bustling streams.

A flask of lukewarm coffee to start the day
Bacon on the gas cooker, sandwiched between bread
Lashings of ketchup, we beg for more
Next up is sausages - what a score!!!!

We pack up our bags, tent back in the car
Come along for the journey, we’ll travel so far!
A bike ride, a singsong and an acoustic guitar
Embrace nature, the wilderness and be at peace as we are.
