Flames

We're two flames.
That's what you told me as I lay in your arms.
You took out your lighter lit it and told me to do the same.
I agreed.
With both of our lighters lit you moved your hand next to mine.
You put the flames together and said it was us.
You said that together we create something strong, something wonderful.
Then you pulled the flames apart and said that apart we were two separate flames.
Yet again you put the flames together and said these words "but together we are stronger".
It was then that you made my heart race.
You sent shivers down my spine and I looked up at you.
It was then that all of the grudges I secretly held against you vanished.
It was that moment that I officially realized you might be the one.
It was in that second that you stole my breath away.
But my mind crossed a thought that was brung to life through my lips.
"What happens when you put out the flame?"
I don't think you heard me.
Either that or you didn't want to respond.
But even I am gonna ignore that thought and rather remember that we are flames.
