In My Eyes

Lila Morris 1957 (Oakland, Calif)

While looking past his rough exterior, there was a softness I hadn't seen before.
A gentle man beneath the ruggedness I saw, those qualities he envisioned as only his flaws.
Into downcast and haunted eyes I peer, there I see a man I hold so dear.
When speaking of himself a disappointed side I see...
In my eyes, a good and decent man is he.
How do I enlighten him and make him aware, of many great qualities he has that are rare.
My hope is one day.. through my eyes he can gaze, then he'll understand why I've so loved his ways.
He's gentle and kind.. just a sweet Teddy Bear, of this I've known for more than 20 years.   So he goes through life.. he gives his all its true, somehow some way he should be given his due.
He deserves happiness.. and not just for a while...
So he can live the rest of his days...
With light steps...
                       And a Smile.
