The Battle

Douglas H. Mc Clintock 1934 (Sarnia, Ontario)

I serve in God's Salvation Army
A lowly soldier footman no less,
It's been a very stormy journey
Lots of heartache but also success.

The kinship of Saints allowed me
To give me strength to march on
No turning back will be my final plea
I will be faithful hither and yond.

God has provided  for me His armor
To withstand the wiles of the devil,
When fully clad, I am indeed His footman soldier,
He puts me on alert at a very high level.

With God's armor, I stand to fight the Good Fight,
This battle I talk about is a spiritual battle,
Who can stand against God's might ?
To the victor - who is the master of your soul ?

This is no idle threat,
You must stand very firm and not retreat.
Jesus paid the debt for your release
A willing footman soldier will make us complete.

The Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness,
The Gospel of Peace, the Shield of Faith
The Helmet of Salvation the Sword of the Spirit.
Ephesians 6 : 10 - 18
