Electric Oracle

Electric Oracle

It started with sounds
Chirping and squawking
Hand signals and pointing
Banging the logs
Pumping out signals
Sending the news

Then for the distance
Legs and feet
Smoke clouds followed
Relays were made
The distances expanded

Hides bones and clay
On papers and parchment
The symbols did multiply
The waters were crossed
Then wires were sparking
And sparks flew the air
With music and dreams
Anything carried
Wondering out loud

Silently wandering inside
The noise will follow
For now you can
Turn it down
Miracles the magic screen
Once was a tube
Glowing x-rays with heat
Now flat and bloody
Rare earth elements

Often guiding
Sometimes inspirational
Happy images transmitted
Sad images let fly
Photons whip across rooms
Smack into the beholders eye
Locked in the mind
Sounds with images bind
Modulated video
Theatrical medium
Almost true

Following trends of thought
Many feel it is just a view
A harbinger of events
Mostly not true
For others a recipe
A prescription of fate
Guidance to the end

Shows for many
Projected by a few
The future for now
Shows what is happening
On screen and off
