Beware

Henry L. White 1940 (Cambridge Ma.)

Beware the ogre that sleeps in your head,
It has no home, and it has no bed.l be
When you lose your temper and start to yell,
It wakes up and raises all kinds of hell.
If you argue with any person at all,
It will be at your beck and call.
When it stands by your side at times of ill-will,
You can be sure it wants you to kill!
So take time to smell roses and taste the bread,
but be aware of the ogre that lives in your head
