My stolen soul

Don’t worry about the darkness
in my soul,
It’s what ignites me
like an embered coal.
Don’t worry about the darkness
I am never alone,
I live here with all my demons,
 this is my new home.
Don’t worry about the darkness
you’ll be just fine
It’s not your soul they’re after
This time it’s only just mine
Don’t worry about the darkness
Why can’t you understand
When I needed you most
you let go of my hand
Don’t worry about the darkness
I must now say goodnight
To go lay on the ashes
in the fires of light
Don’t worry about the darkness
that consumes my soul
It’s no longer me nor you
that has the control
Don’t worry about the darkness
in my soul
you are the one
who put it here
Now I’ll never
be alone

About this poem

I read something that inspired me to write this, at a very dark time in my life when I was going through a breakup. My hope is that someone will read this and understand the true meaning of what the darkness is here, and never have to go through such a time, and know that they really aren’t alone.
