Squirrel’s Urge

Dr Amit Singh 1982 (Gorakhpur)

While crossing road, she was looking towards me,
In her hurry to get nut,
But seemed to me as she had a lot to say,
An urge or rage;

After passing through as I turned,
She with her blank eyes, still there under bushes,
Filling colors into me,
So I followed her in some strange attachment.

I was taken to a land of fairies, place of her little ones’;
Surprisingly they were not playing!
All were gloomy nearby their destroyed greenery.

I pathetically dare to look at squirrel,
Crouched she was, giving me divine message,
Doesn’t everyone have one’s own paradise?
Then why don’t we?

Her silent cries violently jerk me,
For the sake of being human being, we should think,
Its utmost time to sense that urge, that rage.

About this poem

This poem is all about respecting the feelings of other creatures (nature and animals) also in spite of ignoring them in selfishness.
