CHERRIES TURN TO A PEAR

From armed conflict there's always a profiteer
It's spelt out loud yet most never listen to ear
Unread by many even though it reads as 'War-fare'
Betting that it is easy to slot much sin in anywhere
Mad gyp levers up what they cherish turn to appear
Top brass hit jackpot steal gold figures as souvenir
Plenty gamblers come to match sheen of previous peer
Each keep wheels rotating without give as they all shear
Always more than one armed bandit seize fruit till bare
