Ace

My team is my family
They encourage and love
No judgment happening,
My serve, shoes squeak
On the shiny tan court

Tweet the whistle blows
Red,blue,and white ball
In my hand I spin it around
I raise my arm high
The other one straight in front

Up the ball goes
Then smack over the net
Tapping as it hits the floor
A.C.E …. ace
Cheers arise and peoples heads are bobbing

Even my team gleaming
With joy of another point
Pats on the back and high fives
Back again I walk
The net shakes,I didn’t make it

Encouragement again
Why didn’t they get mad,
Over the net the ball comes
Pass and set then
 I don’t know where I am

On the ground both of us fell
The whistle blows and I lay there burying my head
Game over and it’s my fault
Tears swelling in my eyes
But they’re cheering and laughing

I now understand
They aren’t upset or even mad
They wrap their arms around me
Straight into my bright green jersey
I laugh and wipe my tears away
