To my Mother

Laying here this morning
My mind wanders afar.
To a place I can not go,
I wonder how you are.

Does your smile brighten the room?
Are you happy where you are?
Can you feel the hurt I carry
Missing you from this far?

Some days are better than others.
Some days aren't so great.
My mind gets stuck in loops
Thinking we were just a moment too late.

 No one saw your pain.
You hid it with all your might.
I fear you suffered alone
And that haunts me most nights.

Nothing I could've changed
Nothing anyone could say
Can change the events that happened
On the cold, unforgettable day.

February 19th
In the year 2010
The hardest moment I lived through.
The loss was engraved within.

Losing you that day
My world came crashing down
I still can't seem to concentrate
Or keep my feet on solid ground.

I hope where ever you are
Your burdens you no longer share
The pain you once lived through
You no longer have to bear.

I know I too will find peace
Even in our worlds apart
You will always be on my mind
And deep within my heart.

Evette J McGraw
A true diamond among the rest
My mother, my friend, my family
You were definitely one of the best!

I love you, my dear mother
I'm sorry for all your pain.
You are forever a part of me
Until we meet again!!
