Poem for Aidan

Poem for Aidan

My voice is weak but my love is strong
He does not mind as I sing my songs
I rub his back as he falls asleep
He does not mind as my love is deep!

I'm glad to have his soul so near
I know one day he will not be here
I yearn to see what he will grow to be
Though I'm sad as he won't still be with me

He grows wiser by the day
But he still laughs and he likes to play
Yet soon I know he will go away
 For boys become men
That is just the way

So I'm glad that we have had this time
Though it's sad that life is like this rhyme
And while dreams drift ever far away, so
I drink his love every chance I may

So I sing him my songs, though my voice is weak
And listen to his breath as he falls asleep
For someday soon he will a man
And his heart will be in another’s hand.
