Fear & Light

As violence flares and shouts to “the other”
Proclaiming separation as its cause,

A mighty Light moves in silent strides,
Undisturbed and without pause.

As fear flails its brash and brawny arms
Inciting itself to grow,

The Light holds steady in a stance of Love
Inviting Peace to flow.

Fear’s raging heart grows quiet
Within the safety of the Light.

They merge as one together
Seeing nothing left to fight.

About this poem

This poem was written in 2016 inspired by the fear and divisive atmosphere in our country. However, in revisiting it now, it can also be a prayer of hope and peace for war.

the conflict between separation and inclusion resonated, especially so with what we are seeing throughout the world today.
