Bleak Tomorrow

Tammy Tavares 1966 (Georgia)

The day started as many before,
a yawn a stretch and thoughts galore.

What will happen to me today?
will it ease up or here to stay?

I keep trying to no avail,
my life feels like I'm living in hell.

I feel alone though family I have,
but still my life is like trapped in a cave.

My financial status is null and void,
my romantic life full of non joy.

Why I ask do I keep going through it?
no answer is given so again I throw a fit.

I blame the world but it's my own fault I know.
but a way out it never shows.

I pray and I cry I wish and wonder why,
why can't I just start anew and forget it and sigh.

They tell me God only gives us what we can endure,
but this statement I'm really not sure.

I keep trying day after day,
but the words "you can't" keep playing in my head.

Hopefully someday soon,
my life will be playing to a different tune....
