A Romantic Soul

In the autumn
when the leaves fall,
and a pale hue extends,
a soft scent blends
the ether turns red,
a melancholy melds,
I come as a warbler,
singing melodies for you,
and your woe passes away,
Oh! a pretty gay!

When it is chilled,
and the sky is dusky,
not a life on the tree,
the nights are cold,
hardly a mark of glee,
a weary silence,
takes over the static night,
I come as a winter morning sun,
Shining bright and high,
and oh! see, life has again begun,
smiling and playing and whirling and flying!

I am a romantic soul,
who come in countless forms,
I spread that earthy aroma,
I make you pleasant and warm,
I forge the blossoms bloom,
that sway over the coomb.
I bring the showers off the sky,
the mist and the rill passing by.

I sprint like a tiger,
and gallop like a foal,
I dance in the woods,
like a merry soul.
Then fade into the haze,
changin' the seasons,
nurturing the new life,
nourishing the supreme's creations!
