Hidden Pain

Do you know how much you hurt me
When you took my heart and ran?

And I tried to catch up with you,
But was lost in the sand?

Do you know how many nights,
I tried hard not to cry?
My eyes longed to see you,
And my heart about to die.

Did you ever stop to think
What your rejection did to me?
How it tore my life to pieces
And sent them drifting to the sea.

Have you ever wondered why
I smile in your face?
Or greet you not with a handshake
But with a warm embrace?

I would hate for you to see me,
Head hung and so distraught.
And I refuse to feed your ego
Or your haughty haughty thoughts.

I'll always keep my head up,
Hiding the turmoil deep within.
I bare this pain alone,
And some day I will win!

Josh Hedrington

Sometimes the best way to turn a chapter in your life is to write and release. That's what I do in many of my works to help me move on. I turn an experience into inspiration to write. Other times, I may be inspired just by listening to the stories or experiences of others. There's a reason God gave us two ears and one mouth. Listen more and talk less!! For example my beloved poem, "A New Day and A New Dawn", was inspired after one of many brilliant conversation with my dear friend Cheryl Sullivan. I listened, and received the message and that poem was born. So I dedicate the poem to her, aka The Oracle! I hope all my writings can be a form of inspiration and support for others on this journey called life! more…
