And Still We Wonder Why (TW for mention of su!c!de)

We ask
Why
With heavy hearts
As we look
In the newspaper
Or watch the news on TV
And all we see
Is a tragedy
Or a
Real-life horror story.
Abuse,
Neglect,
Deaths,
Violence,
Crime,
Murder,
Theft,
Assault,
Shooting,
Kidnapping,
Alcoholics,
Drugs,
And suicides.
And still
We wonder why,
With tears in our eyes
And an ache
In our hearts.
And we cry out
To God,
Asking Him
How something so horrible
Could happen like this
And why He would
Let it happen.
We don't even think
About what we have done,
For it is not God’s doing,
But ours,
As we are human
And He is not.
He thinks about
The life lessons we’ll learn
But all we think about,
In our disgustingly horrible minds,
Is only
What we want,
Only what we want
For entertainment
And for our own selfish
And greedy purposes.
Just look at us here;
We are so ugly
And hateful
And awful.
God come down and
Please help us;
What have we become?
