BLOOD RITES

Blood rites are performed
In a dire forest after twilight,
Loathsome rituals condoned
By foul servants of the night.

Virgins taken from their beds
Whisked off into the awful night,
Sacrificed to abhorrent "Gods"
Beneath the blood moon's light.

Creatures that once were human
Lurch round a blood-stained altar,
Spilling bloody from sweet children
Without hesitation, without falter.

Performing 'neath an odious moon
For some malignant, fallen God,
Thrown to Earth now æons ago
Carousing with a monstrous squad.

Blood rites are performed
Soon after the coming Darkfall,
Miscreants from repulsive lands
Join in to answer an evil call.

Invidious beings scamper
Round the alter after dark,
Leviathans join the foul caucus
Vampires wail, werewolfs bark.

Menacing the citizenry
Colossuses obscenely dance,
Around the blood-stained alter
Goblins and elves slowly prance.

Nauseating beings quickly scamper
Round the repulsive alter stone,
In aberrant swirling motions
Hell hounds gnawing human bones.
