Dad

Donald Clay Elmore 1971 (Florida)

I'm lying here and I can not sleep
Memories of you rolling down my cheek

Growing up you spent a lot of time away
Working and provideing molding me into the person I am today

We hunted we fished we farmed we played
Things ill always remember each and every day

We talked about girls and you took me in bars
We worked on bikes and built a few cars

You used to call and ask me how's the weather today
I thought it was kind of strange I only lived a few blocks away

I know now it was just so you could  hear my voice
And now I'm going to miss that and I don't have a choice

But I'm going to be strong and I'll try not to be sad
As I say goodbye and I love you Dad
