I'm to Blame

This mess is my fault
And I’m sorry I
Messed up all our lives.
Seeing you cry
Used to be rare,
But now,
Seeing you cry is almost
A daily part of my life.
A sob wells in my throat,
My chest starts to ache,
My eyes start to water,
With the effort of
Holding in my tears.
It’s hard not to lose hope
When you’re standing there
In front of me and crying.
I can barely
Hold in my sobs
As my chest aches
With the guilt I feel,
Knowing that I’m the one who
Caused everyone to
Drown in the depths of their
Darkness and confusion and sorrow.
I’m the one
Who brought
This darkness upon all of us,
Who caused
You to cry,
Who caused
You to shout in frustration,
Who caused
You to have stacks of papers
Lying on the counter,
Who caused
This tidal wave of darkness
To swallow us all whole.
