Guilty

I hear your tired voice;
I hear your arguing
And shouting.
I hear your voice.
Cringing and crying
And dying inside
And knowing that
It’s my fault,
I feel so guilty.
I put all of us
Through this mess,
Through this time of
Confusion and anger
And sorrow.
I can barely hold back the tears,
The familiar lump in the
Back of my throat.
I see the stacks of papers
Piling up on our counter
And I feel so ashamed
And remorseful all over again.
I know that it’s
Only my fault,
I know that I am to blame.
I know that I caused
This mess to happen,
I know that I’m so guilty.
I’m so ashamed,
I’m so remorseful.
I’m the one to blame
For putting every one of us
In this dark time,
And I feel so guilty.
