Cutting (MAJOR TW for self-injury)

Life is good,
Life is fine.
It’s going great
And it’s a smooth ride.
Then depression creeps in
And steals your peace and joy.
Your heart is cracking
And it hurts so much.
You can’t breathe
And you turn to
Sharp objects for help.
Physical pain becomes your refuge.
Blood doesn’t
Make you sick anymore,
Pain doesn’t
Bring tears anymore,
Blood is the only thing
You want now.
You cut
To distract yourself
From your inside pain,
To get silent revenge on
Who has ever hurt you.
You cut
To kill yourself
In your mind
Without really pulling the trigger.
You cut
And it breaks my heart.

About this poem

To all the self-harmers out there, whatever that self-harm looks like. You're valid and I care about you. I only wrote about cutting because that's the only type of self-injury I've done. But all other forms of self-harm are valid and your pain is valid. I don't encourage it whatsoever but just know you're loved and you're completely valid. Love you all. Take care and stay safe and strong
